NEW BROADLANDS COMMUNITY IN BROOMFIELD SITE FOR PARADE OF HOMES DENVER, CO - The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metro Denver's 1999 Parade of Homes (POH) is scheduled to open at Broadlands, a new golf course community in Broomfield, on Saturday, July 31, 1999 and will run through Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 1999. This is the 13th annual Parade of Homes event and the first Parade of Homes for Adams County. The event has been a fund-raiser for Children's Hospital for the past 12 years; this year's event will also benefit the Broomfield Community Foundation. This year's Parade of Homes event showcases nine custom built homes, built in a suburban setting on the third hole of an 18 hole public golf course. This year's homes are priced from $600,000 to over $1.5 million and range from 3,600 to over 7,800 square feet. Some of the unique aspects to the homes are water features incorporated into the landscaping, interesting use of natural stone and custom tile and the latest in digital technology and energy efficiency. "Each home's impressive style and majestic architecture lends to the luxurious, high-end feel of this year's Parade of Homes experience," said Kathleen Kurtz, director of operations for the HBA. "While at the same time, visitors can find useful building interior and landscaping design ideas to incorporate into their own homes." Here are some of the highlights to the nine custom-homes at this year's Parade of Homes: * Showcase Builders Inc. - "Ray of Light": 7,000 square feet, $1.3 million - Third generation Colorado builder, Randy Loveland built this dream home as a tribute to his father Ray; Beaver Creek style house with old English chateau undertones; hearth room; complete Irish pub/bar in basement with home theater; dramatic landscaping with waterfall and patio. * Majestic Homes - "Villa Mediterranea": 7,300 square feet, $1.1 million - Only ranch style home at POH; strong Mediterranean theme throughout; oval staircase in middle of open floor plan - each room flows easily into the next with large outdoor patio terrace off of the great room. * Wonderland Custom Homes - "The Vineyard": 4,218 square feet, $869,000 - KCNC Channel 4's Aimee Sporer design consultant; the indoor and outdoor themes are consistent throughout the home; outdoor room has a fireplace and BBQ grill and large wood pillars, hand-carved by an artist in Taos; indoor design has the same carved pillars creating an open rustic, southwestern feel. * Laureate Homes - "The Laureate": 7,873 square feet, $1.4 million - Old world theme; largest home at POH; completely "Built Green" built with all environmentally safe products; ceiling-to-floor, 4-paned windows overlooking golf course; Italian orange and black marble kitchen countertops; complete kitchen located in master suite. * Sunshine Carrington - "Sweet Dreams": 5,400 square feet, over $1 million - Frank Lloyd Wright inspired; turn of the century craftsmanship; "H" shaped house; natural indoor and outdoor theme carried throughout house with 1,400 square feet of imported Chinese slate tiles, some of which spill out onto the patio; fir wood beams and detailing throughout; sleeping porch over 3 car garage. * CSI Construction Inc. - "Feng Shui": 5,880 square feet, $895,000 - Feng Shui interior and exterior theme; lodge style; unique colors and natural materials used throughout - metals, wood, stone, to create balance and harmony among elements; nature theme brought indoors; A 15 ton granite boulder will be incorporated as part of the backyard landscape design. * Golden Design Group - "The Oasis": 7,300 square feet, $1.3 million - Mediterranean theme; enormous indoor flagstone and granite waterfall with palm trees; Romeo and Juliet balconies overlooking waterfall and windows to golf course; bamboo wood floors; consistent thematic moldings carried throughout. * Murphy Homes - "Flagstaff": 5,236 square feet, $900,000 - Stucco home designed for growing active family; custom floor mosaic; 15 foot high windows overlooking backyard waterfall, native Colorado stone used for interior and exterior use; faux 3-D animals decorate walls in girl's room. * Sugarbush Homes - "The Augusta": 5,000 square feet, $930,000 - Six car garage, apartment size master suite with covered deck and foyer; fireplace in master bath; eclectic yet traditional style with an open floor plan. During the first six months of construction every builder agreed to use energy provided by Public Service Co.'s Windsource. Windsource is an environmental alternative energy source that lets consumers and companies buy part or all of their electricity from a wind "farm" constructed in northeastern Colorado. The homes also had to be constructed with Built Green environmentally safe products, which reduce energy costs and pollution and protect the earth's resources. Broadlands is a beautiful suburban setting offering incredible views of the mountains and numerous parks and hiking trails set within its residential community. Broomfield's new technological growth and housing developments has earned it the nickname of being the "Silicon Valley of the Rockies." Broadlands is the first community in Colorado to be 100% wired with leading edge Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology, which is the latest high-speed data and phone service available today. The system includes $3 million worth of fiber optic cabling and switching devices from U.S. West to each Broadlands' home. Parade of Homes hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. However, no one is admitted to the homes after 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 on weekends and $8 on weekdays. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
