GOTHIC AT MIDNIGHT Captivates Audiences
Just in Time for Halloween

ARVADA, CO - GOTHIC AT MIDNIGHT presented by Joshua Kane, is an award-winning tribute to the masters of the macabre. The Arvada Center is proud to present this delightfully thrilling Halloween show on Oct. 25 and 26 in the indoor theater.

This one-man tribute populates the stage with unforgettable characters and an array of vignettes that thrill audiences with their devilish sense of fun and whimsy. Drawing from the Gothic works of Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, Ambrose Bierce and George Bernard Shaw, Kane entertains audiences with his playful antics, frightens with his intensity and charms with his tales of the fantastic. Kane, the lone performer, is considered to be a mixture of Orson Welles, Artemus Gordon and the Count of Monte Cristo. This evening is perfect for those who wish to experience Kane's sincere passion of gothic tales as he celebrates the power of the spoken word.

Kane presents two performances at the Arvada Center on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18. Two shortened 50-minute versions geared toward children's imaginations and creative expression will be held Friday, Oct. 25 at 10:00 a.m. and noon. Tickets for the shortened performances are $6. Both performances are suitable for children ages 10 and older.

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is the metro area's 12th largest cultural attraction, devoted to all aspects of the arts. Located two and a half miles north of Interstate 70 on Wadsworth, the Arvada Center is a short 20-minute drive from downtown Denver. The Arvada Center History Museum Opens a New Exhibit and Interactive Area

ARVADA, CO - The Arvada Center History Museum recently added a new exhibit featuring tools from the colonial period as well as an interactive area for children and adults to learn about homesteading.

The tool exhibit, entitled "Living in the West," displays tools from the Arvada Historical Society's collection and provides excellent materials that describe how the tools were used. "Living in the West" gives visitors an opportunity to see the types of tools that were used to build Arvada. Guests will also discover how the tools were used and what sorts of people used them.

"Homesteading in the West" is the museum's new interactive component. It features an area where visitors can learn how the Haines' homestead (one of Arvada's first homesteads) was established and how other homesteads were planned. This area provides information about the Haines family and has a felt wall where children can create their own homestead by plotting buildings, crops and gardens like the Haines family did over 100 years ago.

The Arvada Center History Museum's permanent collection shows Arvada's history in its regional context. It tells the story of the people who created the community of Arvada: Native Americans, farmers, hard-working men and women, inquisitive children and business owners. The museum shows the diversity of Arvadans who represent all walks of life from all parts of the world. Permanent featured items include historic clothing, household items, musical instruments and toys. The museum also features the Haines' Log Cabin, a part of the Haines' homestead and one of the first homes built in Arvada. This home was built in 1864 and was moved to the Arvada Center by the Arvada Historical Society in 1977. Younger visitors will also enjoy a trunk filled with period clothing that can be tried on.

The Arvada Center History Museum is located on the first floor of the Arvada Center. It is free and open to the public seven days a week. Free tours can be scheduled by calling 720-898-7255. The museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.
