DENVER ZOO ADMISSION FEE INCREASE APPROVED The Denver City Council has approved an admission fee increase for the Denver Zoo. The new admission prices and age breakdowns are as follows: $6.00 for adults ages 13 -61 and $3.00 for children 4-12 and seniors, with children 3 and under free. The Denver Zoo is the second most visited metro-area attraction annually, with over 1,300,000 visitors already attending this year. However, nearly half of all current Zoo attendance does not pay admission fees: school children, children (under six) and Zoo members are the major components of free admission. The Zoo will continue to provide seven free day annyally to residents of the State of Colorado. Estimates prepared by the Denver Zoo reveal the increase will provide betwee n $700,000 and $1,000,000 in additional revenue each year depending on visitation. These monies would allow the Denver Zoo to continue work toward it's mission; fostering an appreciation for the world's wildlife and conservation of these irreplaceable natural resources while providing an enjoyable leisure-time experience for all ages; without reduction in the quality of the facility or it's valuable community outreach programs.
