Pipe Dream Becomes Reality for Angel Fire Resort Angel Fire, New Mexico-Summer 2001-Angel Fire Resort has joined forces with world-renown terrain park consultant and designer, Chris Gunnarson of Snow Park Technologies to create and implement the only half pipe terrain feature in the entire southern Rocky mountain region. Jon Mahanna, Director of Resort Operations, Kurt Eppler, Slope and Grooming Manager for the Resort and Gunnarson will begin initial consultation, construction and design on the parks June 12, 2001 in Angel Fire, New Mexico. Gunnarson is currently the Consultant and Director of Snowboarding at Snow Summit Mountain Resort in California. He has designed courses for the ESPN Winter and Summer X Games, the Slopestyle Y2K in Japan, received several industry awards and remains in constant demand for his expertise as a designer and consultant throughout the world. Not only is Angel Fire Resort beefing up their brainpower for the new parks, but it has also purchased three new Bombardier, BR 2000 snowcats, a Pipe Dragon and enhanced the existing snowmaking system. The new Bombardier snowcats were created specifically for the design and maintenance of half pipes, quarter pipes and terrain features. The Resort also has plans to add a Rail Park, fun boxes, bring back the popular table tops and spines and create additional features in the parks for the 2001/2002 winter season. The new enhancements and creative efforts will place the Resort at the next level as a premier location for riders and skiers seeking numerous terrain features. Currently, the Resort holds the People's Choice title for "The Best Place to Snowboard in New Mexico", as selected by the readers of the Taos News in Taos, New Mexico.
