WHAT: The Grand Prix of Denver, Round 14 of the 20-event 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series.
WHEN: August 30th through September 1, 2002.
WHERE: The race will be run primarily on privately owned and maintained streets surrounding Pepsi Center. The only public street that will be affected is a portion of Auraria Parkway immediately adjacent to Pepsi Center.
CIRCUIT: Temporary skeet circuit is 1.65 miles long, comprises nine turns and features 12 spectator grandstands.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:Unlike the previous Grand Prix event that was held in Denver (1990-9 1), the Grand Prix of Denver will be privately funded. The only exception is the repair costs for Auraria Parkway to bring this skeet up to standard City code. All other surface improvements and safety systems will be the financial responsibility of the Grand Prix of Denver. The city will provide customary services outside of the race circuit as it would for any major sporting or cultural event, such as traffic services, police and fire department services.
ATTENDANCE: Over 100,000 attendees are expected over the three-day weekend event.
SUPPORT RACES:Toyota Atlantic Championship: Up-and-coming young drivers tackle the Denver track in open-wheel, Toyota-powered racecars. Trans-Am Series: North America’s longest-running (36& year) series sports the top “muscle cars” in racing.
TICKETS:The Grand Prix of Denver is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of approximately $30 million in the Rocky Mountain Region for the first year of the event. As a comparison, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach geuerates an economic impact of approximately $39 million annually for the cities of Long Beach and Los Angeles, Calif5 and its attendees occupy about 5,000 local hotel rooms.
TELEVISION:The Grand Prix of Denver will feature national television coverage on FOX Spans’ SPEED Channel and will be broadcast via International television.
CART:Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc. sanctions the leading U.S. open wheel motorsports races, the CART FedEx Championship Series, with 20 races annually in eight countries including Australia, Brazil, England, Japan, Germany, Canada and Mexico.
CART features a field of internationally known drivers including Michael Andretti, Jimmy Vasser, Dario Franchitti, Paul Tracy, Kenny Brack and Adrian Fernandez.
Stay Tuned:Doubling in size from last year’s event, the GART SPORTS DENVER INTERNATIONAL SPORTSMEN'S EXPOSITION (ISE) will feature nearly 500 exhibitors. Earlier this year, ISE announced the acquisition of Denver’s other sportsmen’s show, produced by O’Laughlin Trade Shows. Celebrating its 25th year in Denver, the ISE will spotlight the Rocky Mountain region’s largest selection of products and services for anglers, hunters, boaters, ATVers, campers and recreational-vehicle enthusiasts, also featuring wildlife paintings, sculpture, photography, leathercraft and log furniture. Hundreds of lodges, resorts, guides and outfitters will be available to answer questions or book adventures to destinations nearby or distant.

Adult finalists will be invited to ISE’s Utah event in March for finals: grand prize for each adult division is a $8,000 custom Hyde drift boat. The top three youth champions in Denver will take home 3M/Scientific Anglers rods, reels, line, flies and other fishing gear. Adult qualifying times are: 2:00 and 6:00 weekdays and Saturday. AT&T Parade of Lights Set to Welcome Downtown Visitors
DOWNTOWN DENVER—Three annual events produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership, Inc.—the U S WEST Buskerfest, Festival of Mountain & Plain. . .A Taste of Colorado, and the AT&T Parade of Lights present ed by 9NEWS—have been set for the calendar, continuing the tradition of hosting the region’s best performing arts, food, music and seasonal celebrations. The events will attract nearly 1 million people to Downtown Denver.

AT&T Parade of Lights
December 3 and 4, --Downtown Denver
The streets of Downtown Denver will come alive for the 25th annual AT&T Parade of Lights presented by 9NEWS. The silver anniversary edition of the region's best holiday spectacle will travel on Friday and Saturda y nights through two miles of Downtown Denver's streets, featuring brightly lit theme floats, giant holiday balloons, marching bands, equestrian teams, and a colorful cast of seasonal characters. Attendance: 350,000. Admission is free.
